2016年4月5日 · Why Dow 795 works on glass seals is because the designer of boats/buildings understand this fact and make sure the frame that holds the glass/plastic has about the same material properties. i.e.. Fiberglas® and Plexiglas® I did see a data sheet for 795 that shows adhesion tests between various materials at various temperature/stress conditions.
Sikaflex 295 versus Dow Corning 795 | Sailboat Owners Forums
2004年7月7日 · In order to use Sika 295UV the proper Sika 295UV primer, 209D, needs to be used. Dow 795 is a sort of gold standard for structural glazing but Sika 295UV can be used provided the Sika primer is used. Most users are shocked at the price of Sika 209D primer especially when you consider Dow 795 runs about $9.00 per tube..

2016年4月5日 · 795 was a good choice by Hunter. Our 91 h30 got 22 years out of the factory 795 seal! I think another key is that 795 is a room temperature vulcanizing (RTV) silicone. The 795 data sheet states "One-part, neutral-cure, RTV silicone sealant". Apparently many RTVs are 2 …
Selecting a Dow Sealant - Sailboat Owners Forums
2009年8月11日 · Dow calls 795 a "Silicon Building Sealant". Previously I had been using Dow 995 - which they describe as a "Silicon Structural Sealant". Apart from the fact that work time for the 995 is a little shorter than for 795 (10-20 mins vs 20-30 mins) the main difference is that that the tensile strength of 995 is 350 psi vs 45psi for the 795.
Dow 795 cure time - Sailboat Owners Forums
2008年11月26日 · Just started installing new fixed portlights using Dow 795. Looked up cure times and I find 7 to 14 days cure time! Tack free in 3 hours. I have some washers holding the glass in place under some pressure. These will be removed after the 795 adheres. After that there will be no mechanical fastening, only the 795. How long do I wait.
Butyl or Dow Corning 795 sealant--forward hatch and port...
2015年6月14日 · I have used the Dow 795 RTV (otherwise known as silicone) in many installations of walk in coolers and freezers without a problem, but that is different than uses in a sailing vessel. HOWEVER, bedding a window pane, sealing a fixed panel, or a similar application I would never use butyl IF it might sometime need to be removed.

2015年8月20日 · Overall the hardest part of the process was the hours I spent mulling it over and trying to figure out "how to do it right." Once started it was a fairly straight forward process and I am happy with the results. The one suggestion I have is maybe have an observer and or a light shinning on the portlight when you apply the Dow 795.

2012年3月12日 · If you have trouble sourcing the Dow product, GE has a similar professional glazing sealant (SG4000) I have used both the DOW and GE products and they have very similar characteristics. Lewmar used to recommend the DOW 795 for sealing their hatches, but a few years ago switched to the GE product.

2022年6月1日 · For bedding ports, Sika 295 or 296 can be used in place of Dow’s 795 Silicone. Be aware that using a polyurethane sealant can make removing hardware much more difficult than using other sealants. There is a solvent, called DeBond 2000, which can be used to weaken the bond if you need to remove hardware that was bedded with 5200.
