The E16 is a 1.6 L (1,597 cc) engine produced from 1982 through 1988. It has a 76 mm × 88 mm (2.99 in × 3.46 in) bore and stroke. The first generation of this engine used a valve cover that bolted to the rocker shaft studs.

Block . The cylinder block employs the same half-skirt design as that used in the A-series engine to provide small size and reduce weight. It uses a new casting process and is shorter, the better to fit transversely in small engine bays.

I have almost all of the parts I need to build it now except the gasket kit and the pistons. Done a lot of number crunching to do with all the possible parts I have or can get easy. Here are my findings. Sorted by CR low to high. All CR's are static.

2009年3月8日 · Using the E16 crank and rods will make it the E16. Tappets, lash, valve clearance are one in the same. Just many names. Like stated before a increased deck height is needed, but a thicker headgasket would fix that. Then just set to E15 specs.

2002年6月9日 · Here's how one looks in the E16 block. These are much closer to the concave shape of the discontinued 13M22 Euro pistons. They will need less grinding to get the valve clearances right and are a higher compression piston.

2007年2月2日 · There are differences in the smallblock 1600 bottom ends. I had an early GSi (E16) which I wanted to swap the bottom ends on & the GTE (E16) block I sourced was different. Mainly in castings & webbings but the tensioner & cambelt etc on the side was different & will need some research. Different belt covers etc aswell.
