2009年1月22日 · Your 318i 4 cylinder engine does not have a vanos. The standard i6 double vanos is on all the E46 6 cylinder (non-diesel, non-M3) cars (323, 325, 328, 330). All of the double vanos units have failed seals and replacing them will provide significant performance improvements and improved fuel consumption. Hope this helps.

2011年10月18日 · Afterwards, got a exhaust vanos solenoid code. Instead of swapping out the whole vanos, I replaced the solenoid and worked beautifully. Funny thing though is later on tried the supposed bad solenoid on the intake side and it worked fine. So avoided paying whatever a new vanos unit would've cost by just messing around with the solenoids.

I will be ordering one asap and I'm glad i don't have to spend over$600 on a new solenoid unit, as mine just took a dump. :thumbsup:
