The GE E60 is a family of six-axle 6,000 hp (4.5 MW) C-C electric locomotives made by GE Transportation Systems (GE) between 1972 and 1983. The E60s were produced in several variants for both freight and passenger use in the United States and Mexico.

Amtrak's initial order for E60 electric locomotives was for two types, the E60CH, which had HEP capability, and the E60CP, which included a steam generator. Several of the E60CP units were leased out and/or sold in the early 1980s.

National Railroad Passenger Corporation (Amtrak) 950-975 were 1974-76 GE E60 electric locomotives. With no dedicated electric locomotive on the North American market at the time, GE offered to adapt its E60C freight locomotive for passenger service.
