ELI-NP Research Departments. Strong local teams are developing state-of-the-art instrumentation for experiments in the emerging field of laser-driven nuclear physics. The two major systems are the Lasers System Department (LSD) and Gamma System Department (GSD), both with specifications well beyond existing facilities.

An extensive biomedical research program, anchored in ELI-NP's unique capabilities, is currently being developed and addresses topics such as: radiotherapy-relevant nuclear beam production, radiobiological effects of laser and gamma nuclear beams, medical imaging research using laser-driven X-ray sources and medical isotope production research.
