The EMD GP15 is a 4-axle diesel-electric locomotive built by General Motors Electro-Motive Division between June 1976 and April 1983. Intended to provide an alternative to the rebuilding programs that many railroads were applying to their early road switchers, it is generally employed as a yard switcher or light road switcher .

Following the GP15-1, EMD released an AC version (GP15AC) and the turbocharged GP15T. These variants sold poorly with only 58, total, produced. Today, several GP15s remain in service on Class I systems (such as Union Pacific and CSX Transportation) as well as smaller lines.

Offered as a light road or yard switcher, the GP15-1 was built from many components of older locomotives that railroads traded to EMD in exchange for new GP15-1's.

2022年12月1日 · GP15 variants include GP15T, GP15AC, and GP15T that sported an 8-cylinder turbocharged 8-645 motor and an option for dynamic braking feature which was only used by the Chessie System. Chessie owned 25 of the GP15T, or turbocharged, variant. The straight GP15-1 was by far the more popular model ordered.
