May 16, 2021 · I own a pair of ESS AMT 1 B and two pair of ESS AMT 4. I have owned a lot of speakers in my life. Infinity Quantum 3s, Infinity Kappa 8, Kappa 9, Thiel, Magnepan, Carver Amazing Loudspeakers, various JBL, Linn, Klipsch, Allison Acoustics, Altec, University, and a bunch more I can't think of right now. ESS are the ones that I stuck with.

MY father left me two AMT 3 speakers and two Heil Professionals, I believe the Heil Professional speakers have two larger woofers in each cabinet with a Heil transformer . The surrounds are gone in the speakers so all the speakers have to be rebuilt.

Dec 18, 2018 · The other main line ESS product at that time that used 10 inch stamped frame paper cone woofers the were AMT-1, 1 Tower, 3 and 4. So, this pair for sale might work for you as an OEM replacement. As was suggested, you can call ESS, Ricky is helpful, but he was not there in the 70's and doesn't have that history of the product.

Feb 17, 2025 · Definitely ESS AMT Monitor 1 speakers with the 15" passive speaker on the bottom. These were my first pair of ESS speakers, loved them. Phenomenal low-end and beautiful highs from that tweeter, only sold as the lack of mids was quite disappointing compared to other options that I had come around. Would kill for a pair of those rock monitor 3's!

Mar 7, 2013 · The 2XO's are fairly new and the AMT 1b's are not (of course) but have had the woofers and PR's replaced with ESS replacement ones, as well as the cabinets being re-sealed. The grill cloths aren't the best but after seeing what I might be able to find at Joanne's fabric store I'm not too worried about it.

Aug 13, 2019 · There is a nice ESS owners group page on Facebook as well. Plus ESS is on top of their game in the customer service dept messaging me through Facebook Chat (and have a knob I needed). I will be bi-amping them soon -- looking to go with amp for the Heil and a beefy SS for the lows --let me know if anyone has any suggestions.
