Ahmed El-Gendy (Arabic: أحمد الجندي; born 1 March 2000) is an Egyptian modern pentathlete. [1] He won the silver medal in the men's event at the 2020 Summer Olympics. He also competed in the 2018 Summer Youth Olympics and won gold for Egypt. [2]

Alaa El-Gendy, MD, is an experienced pulmonologist and the founder of Florida Lung & Sleep Associates in Lehigh Acres and Fort Myers, Florida. He is board certified in internal medicine, pulmonary diseases, and critical care. Dr. El-Gendy has a special interest in asthma, COPD, lung cancer, and sleep disorders.

ElGendy was the first African to win an Olympic medal in the modern pentathlon, after winning a silver medal at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics. He did it again with a gold medal at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the men’s individual category, achieving a world record.
