2024年9月29日 · After many years of elk hunting with 30 cal rifles, I prefer 165 gr accubonds for 30-06. I like the 180 gr accubond for 300 WM. Of course, find what shoots best out of your rifle. I hand load and work to find the best combination for each rifle.

2020年4月13日 · I shot and killed elk with 165 grain Fusions before I started reloading, now I shoot 165 grain accubonds. I zero 3 inches high at 100, which gives me about a 250 yard zero and I can put the shot aimed into the high shoulder on an elk at 400 yards and still hit lungs/heart.

2010年4月9日 · Have used an 06 for a lot of years and if you keep it within 300 yards it will do just fine on elk if you hit them good. Took a 295 class bull this year with my 06 at 300 yards with 165gr Core Loc. Hit him high shoulder twice. He didn't go 10 yards.

2012年5月8日 · I'm using the 168 TSX and TTSX in my 30.06. If I was elk hunting with it, I'd definitely pull the trigger if I saw a bull I wanted at 400 yards. To the OP, the 165 is PLENTY of bullet for any elk. I like the Barnes bullets and I've never had to track any animal I used them on, nor have my western friends.

Interlock (flat based Spire Point) in his 30-06 for many years with great success on moose, deer, and black bears. From his experiences, I'd think it should work. But if you can get them, you might want to try the 165 gr. Interbond bullet.

2017年12月7日 · What 165 grain hunting bullet, for reloading, have you found most accurate in the 30-06? Hunting bullets, not match grade. Mainly in bolt guns. I have found; Sierra's BTSP and HPBT capable of 1" 3 shot groups at 100 yards on a good day.

2011年1月9日 · I like the 180 grain for elk, but there is little question that the 165 grain PT will work well on elk. Do your part, Steve, and the bullet won't let you down. I've used both Sierra GKs and Hornady ILs with good success.

2016年12月6日 · My Sig. 30-06 shoots Hornady SST or Interbond 180 or 165 the best. I get 1.2" groups at 300 yards with either bullet at either weight. I tried Partitions and Accubond and the best I could get was 1" at 100 and 3" at 300.
