Qianhui (Emma) Qin is interested in the biogeochemistry of methane, a potent greenhouse gas that’s about 28 times stronger than carbon dioxide. She’s particularly focused on the measurement of the methane oxidation rates of methanotrophs in the ocean, and clumped isotope signatures of methane in oceanic sediments.

Research Summary: Emma is a research specialist that focuses on the soil biogeochemistry of atmospheric H2. The project aims to integrate measurements of H2 consumption rates from various soil types into continuously evolving models characterizing soil H2 uptake.
