Erik Martin Andreas Ask-Upmark (born 13 May 1973) is a Swedish musician and riksspelman [1] on the svensk säckpipa (Swedish bagpipe). He mainly performs with the groups Svanevit, Dråm and Falsobordone in which he plays säckpipa (Swedish bagpipe) and harp, together with his wife Anna Rynefors. [2]

I am a musician, promoter, graphic designer and professional armchair historian based in Skåne, the southernmost part of Sweden. Erik Ask-Upmark is a leading international harp player from Sweden. He is unique in his focus on traditional music from the Scandinavian countries on the harp - an instrument more associated with Irish and Scottish music, but which nevertheless has a long history in the Nordic region, going back all the way to the Vikings!

Erik Ask-Upmark studied musicology and music history in Gothenburg, Sweden, and is a professional performer of the Celtic harp, Baroque double harp, and the Swedish bagpipes. His love of traditional Irish music led him to the Celtic harp, which in turn led him to arranging Scandinavian folksongs on the harp.

Erik Ask-Upmark is one of very few harpists playing Scandinavian music on the Celtic harp. October 2007 saw the release of his first, critically acclaimed solo album - incidentally the first album ever featuring exclusively Swedish folk music on solo harp!
