The energy band gap is describe more accurately by using the GGA plus Tran–Blaha-modified Becke–Johnson (TB-mBJ–GGA) ensuring a semiconductor behavior.

EuCrO3 is Orthorhombic Perovskite structured and crystallizes in the orthorhombic Pnma space group. The structure is three-dimensional. Eu3+ is bonded in a 8-coordinate geometry to eight O2- atoms. There are a spread of Eu–O bond distances ranging from 2.35–2.73 Å. Cr3+ is bonded to six O2- atoms to form corner-sharing CrO6 octahedra.
