The Grumman F7F Tigercat is a heavy fighter aircraft that served with the United States Navy (USN) and United States Marine Corps (USMC) from late in World War II until 1954. It was the first twin-engine fighter to be deployed by the USN.

2005年4月12日 · The Tigercat was a very slick, quickly accelerating aircraft. Its full-power dive-limit speed could be attained at 35- to 40-- degree dive angles in less than 30 seconds. Its great weight and twin-engine power made it by far the slickest accelerating prop fighter I ever flew (this comparison includes the famed F8F-1 Bearcat).

The 35th machine on the F7F-1 production line was modified as a prototype for the "XF7F-2N", with the next 65 machines rolled out being "F7F-2N" night fighters. They featured a rear cockpit for a radar operator, fuselage fuel tankage being reduced to make space for it, and an SCR-720 radar in a long "snout" nose.

2016年3月5日 · Anybody have an idea of how much weight to stick inside the nose so it can sit on all 3 landing gear legs without a tail prop? I'd like to install what I can before joining the fuselage halves and sandwiching the nosegear in place, which I think will thwart my adding weight after the fuselage is joined. Thanks very much.

2014年2月7日 · If you want just a "regular" F7F, then the Monogram kit is the way to go. Starfighter decals has some decals as well as resin wheel wells. Quickboost has props and cowling replacements.
