HMAS Adelaide (FFG 01) was the lead ship of the Adelaide class of guided missile frigates built for the Royal Australian Navy (RAN), based on the United States Navy's Oliver Hazard Perry-class frigates. She was built in the United States and commissioned into the RAN in 1980.

The first, HMAS Adelaide (USN hull number FFG-17, RAN pennant number FFG 01) was built to the Flight I design, while Canberra (FFG-18/FFG 02) and Sydney (FFG-35/FFG 03) were the first and last ships of the Flight II design, respectively.

USS Brooke (FFG-1) was the lead ship of her class of guided missile frigates in the United States Navy from 1962 to 1988. She was named for John Mercer Brooke. As of 2021, no other ship in the United States Navy has been named Brooke.
