FGO is a turn based RPG game released in 2014 by Delight Works ad is now one of the most successful gacha games on the market, ranking top 3 on sales charts in almost every month. Most of it's profit is due to Fate/ being a famous franchise, which allowed the game to grow a lot even when doing just the bare minimum during the begining of the game.

It also doesn't help that, IMO, FGO is the absolute, best in class Gacha game at making you care about characters in-story. This is arguably the biggest curse with FGO's terrible gacha. I have gone into multiple events giving no shits whatsoever about characters, and the events ended with me wanting the character.

This is what makes FGO a very unique gacha game vs. all other gacha game available on market: "Meta is just an option". A single player game will not force you to use toptier best skill character just to finish the endgame contents This isn't unique to only FGO though.

Where to me it borrows some aspects of different gacha games and molds it together to make itself unique. FGO's battle system, a dorm similar to Azur Lane, and from what appears from the units a similar form of uncapping to Magia Record. Currently new in JP so not much info is known about it to western gacha players.

Those paid gacha banners are probably the best thing gacha-wise in FGO as they guarantee you a SSR. I suppose the only drawback would be that you don't get the luxury of picking whatever you want, but a guaranteed SSR vs your usual rate of 0.7% is a hell of a difference in terms of potential cost effectiveness.

Hell the amount of CEs you get instead of characters ESPECIALLY with how garbage 99% of the gacha pool is is just infuriating. Ah I can already feel the nostalgic sensation of the FGO gacha salt! Compelling story. Once again all the major gacha games have/had this. FGO and Arknights seem to be lacking in this recently though. 2.5. If there are events, then they should be either non canon or become permanent after a certain amount of time. In FGO’s case, some of the events are important to the story, but only accessible for a week.
