Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) is an RNA lentivirus in the same retrovirus family as Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) and human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) (Crawford et al., 2005). The virus can infect both domestic cats and wild cats such as cheetahs.
