The Fusil-mitrailleur Modèle 1924 M29 (or MAC 24/29), designed in 1924 by the Manufacture d'armes de Châtellerault, is a 7.5×54mm French light machine gun, which was the standard issue machine gun of the French Army from 1925 until the 1960s and was in use until 2000–2006 with the National Gendarmerie.

2008年2月5日 · This gun is a select fire, gas operated, air cooled light machine gun. It was used by infantry combat groups and intended to provide a sustained fire both in the attack and defense. The doctrine for the main use was a legacy of the fight in WWI. Designed during peace time, it is made of forged and milled steel parts.

2024年8月13日 · Unique Design of the FM 24/29 Light Machine Gun. The FM 24/29, which was developed to provide an infantry squad with serious firepower, had some notable features, including twin triggers. Instead of a selector switch, one trigger was for semi-automatic fire while the other was for full-auto.

The FM 24/29 was the workhorse in the First Indochina War and served in the armed forces until after the end of the war in Algeria. It was replaced by the AA-52 general-purpose machine gun in the 1960s, but it was still in use with National Gendarmerie regional brigades until 2000-2006.

The Fusil-mitrailleur Modèle 1924 light machine guns were designed by Lieutenant Colonel Reibel assisted by Chief Armorer Chosse in 1923. They entered production in Jul 1925 at the Manufacture d'Armes de Châtellerault, and they first saw combat in Morocco in May 1926.
