However, now pressing Fn + Esc no longer locks the function key, and I have to hold the Fn key to use the function keys.

2015年10月2日 · The issue is specifically with the hotkey command Fn + F9 to quickly enable/disable the touchpad as necessary. The other Fn hotkey commands seem to work as usual. Please advise on solutions for both scenarios- I have seen throughout the internet this is a broader issue, would be happy to post which solution works or continue troubleshooting. Thanks

2023年5月14日 · You can try pressing the "Fn" key + "Esc" key at the same time to switch the function key settings back to their default state. Alternatively, you can try going into your laptop's BIOS settings and checking if there is an option to switch the function key behavior.

2025年1月19日 · Fn key feature is not a Windows feature, it is a local keyboard feature, so it varies from keyboard to keyboard. I do want to stress that, if your HP laptop keyboard has brightness feature by using F2, it doesn't mean the external keyboard also uses F2 to adjust brightness. These are keyboard specific.

2014年3月10日 · I have an Asus laptop (intel i5-3317U cpu , 64 bit, with touch screen) which I purchased in Dec 2013. It had Windows 8 pre-installed and the Fn+F9 key used to disable the Touchpad. I upgraded to Windows 8.1 and ever since have never been able to disable the Touchpad. Tried all the options in the solutions but it still not fixed.

2020年11月22日 · I assumed this was a hardware issue but through some messing I somehow managed to fiure out that using Fn+alt+(other key) made my Fn shortcuts for increasing/decreasing volume and turning off the touchpad work. I tried with esc but ctrl+shift+esc+alt didn't seem to work. However the alt+esc shortcut for going to the last open window does work.
