BTW, in the PDF file that comes with the firmware upgrade there's specific instructions on how to use the 60m privileges. Also, use a real serial port if you can for the upgrade. I tried USB and virtual serial ports and the upgrade failed in the first step.

2017年3月6日 · There's another Yaesu hand-mic which uses a condensor element that provides much better (more neutral?) audio output. I think the model is MH-67A8J. It sounded great with the FT-450. HRO sells it for around $25 now; and you can also import it in from one of the Chinese auction-style sites. I think I paid $12 for mine.

2017年7月6日 · True, the FT-891 has no internal tuner, while the FT-450D does, but with a resonant antenna or a strong external auto-tuner (which many supplement the 450D with, to run a wide-band antenna, anyway), the FT-891 is the more versatile rig. Improvements in DSP over the FT-450D are huge. The noise reduction actually works very well, with less tweaking.

When I went to California a few months ago, I could hear WLW when traveling at night well beyond Missouri and Kansas.
