2010年3月26日 · ENR basically uses chemical bath treatments during the printing process to retain a controlled amount of silver in the negative, adding density and contrast to shadows and blacks generally. Also, pushing for an even harsher look for selected scenes, filmmakers added a bleach bypass treatment on top of the ENR look for those sequences.

One of the most popular of the silver-retention processes is ENR, which was named for its inventor, Ernesto Novelli Rimo, a former control department operator at Technicolor Rome who designed the technique for Vittorio Storaro, ASC, AIC to use on Warren Beatty's 1981 film Reds.

Beijing Film and Video was responsible for printing many films made by Fifth Generation filmmakers such as Chen Kaige and Zhang Yimou. In the 1980s, Technicolor introduced the new “silver-retention” process ENR (named after its inventor Ernesto Novelli Rimo) with which contrast and color saturation could be more finely controlled.
