Microevolution in fimH Gene of Mucosa-Associated Escherichia …
In this study, we analyzed mutational patterns in the fimH gene of 52 mucosa-associated E. coli strains isolated from IBD and non-IBD pediatric patients, in order to investigate microevolution of this genetic trait. FimH-positive strains were also phylogenetically typed and tested for their adhesive ability on Caco-2 cells.
Point Mutations in FimH Adhesin of Crohn's Disease-Associated
2013年1月24日 · Our results highlight a mechanism of AIEC virulence evolution that involves selection of amino acid mutations in the common bacterial traits, such as FimH protein, and leads to the development of chronic inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) in a genetically susceptible host.

2009年5月21日 · Together with the fimH sequence we conclude that AIEC represent a group of bacteria that have been able to take advantage of an “IBD microenvironment” and likely shares common genes with extraintestinal pathogens like uro-pathogenic CFT073 and avian-pathogenic O1:K1:H7 E. coli. Future research should focus on genes that are unique to AIEC.
Pathobionts in Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Origins, Underlying ...
2024年1月1日 · Targeting virulence factors is another therapeutic option if a specific pathobiont is identified in a patient with IBD. 38 For example, mannosides are a new class of antibacterial agents that target the FimH (mannose receptor) adhesin, aiming to block the binding of many E coli strains, such as AIEC, to their host’s IEC. 34, 38 The FimH ...

Multi-locus sequence typing (MLST), and fimH sequence analysis were performed to elucidate the phylogenetic relationships between E. coli strains isolated from IBD tissue. Methods: Thirty-six E. coli isolated from IBD patients and healthy individuals were used.

2023年11月21日 · The FimH treatment in CD11b + CD103-DCs remarkably increased DSS-induced upregulation of co-stimulatory and MHC molecules (Figures 5E, F). In addition, FimH treatment induced phosphorylation of ERK, JNK, and p38 in CD11b + CD103-DCs, indicating DC maturation signaling pathway activation .
