M4A3(76) – a highly improved variant of the Sherman with production numbers of 1,400 Built by Detroit Arsenal and 525 by Grand Blanc with improved armor, firepower, and a better gun with a higher velocity.

A few M4A3(105) Shermans appear to have been received as replacements in Fall 1944 to make up for M4(105) losses. All of the M4A3(105)s we have been able to identify served with the 12ème Régiment de Cuirassiers. One of them was St. Denis III, which replaced St. Denis II, an M4(105) destroyed on 30 November, 1944 in Alsace.

The M4A3 used the liquid-cooled 450 hp (340 kW) Ford GAA V8 gasoline engine, and the M4A4 used the liquid-cooled 370 hp (280 kW) 30 cylinder Chrysler A57 multibank gasoline engine. There were also two diesel-engined variants.

Introduced in Update 1.97 "Viking Fury", the M4A3 (105) (France) is a peculiar Sherman, featuring a 105 mm howitzer instead of the regular M3 75 mm cannon. The howitzer grants the Sherman a much more powerful high explosive shell, which is very useful against ground vehicles.
