G5RV Jr. (Half Size) Ham Radio Antenna: This project gives instruction on how to build my version of the G5RV wire antenna that is used on the 10-40 Meter Ham Radio bands (28MHZ to 7MHZ). The history and basic theory of this antenna dates back to 1946.

The Radiowavz G5RV Jr. antenna measures only 51 feet across the top for 40 thru 6 meter operation, and is fed at the center through a low loss 450 ohm ladder line. The interaction between the radiating section and the feed-stub makes the G5RV Jr. usually easy to match on all-bands from 40 meters through 6 meters with good antenna tuner.

Aside from getting one on the air quick, I think the G5RV Jr. is one the best bang for the buck antennas there is. I would gladly purchase a second one for portable or emergency use even though the price here in the Philippines is a bit high ($72) due to shipping costs.

There is also a shortened G5RV antenna, this one is called the G5RV junior. In the case of the ZS6BKW , usually the 6, 10, 12, 17, 20, 40 meter band can be worked without a tuner, for 80 meters a simple tuner is sufficient.
