The GE U36B is a four-axle 3,600 hp (2.7 MW) B-B diesel-electric locomotive produced by General Electric from 1969 to 1974. It was primarily used by the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad and its successors, although thirteen provided the power for the original Auto Train.

2022年3月31日 · In 1970, the U33B was uprated and replaced by the U36B, and with the increase in horsepower provided by the FDL engine, the 8-cylinder U18B was added in 1973. Four of the five models were 60' 2" long with 36' 2" truck centers; the U18B was 5' 6" shorter.

GE upped the horsepower ante in 1970 with the introduction of the 3,600hp U36B which was produced between May 1970 and December 1974. Both models were externally identical, and internally they were both powered by the same GE FDL-16 cylinder four-stroke engine.
