The GEC Z9580 was the smallest 26W SOX-E/35W SOX lantern. It was quite common throughout the UK, rivalling the Philips MI50. It's small size and aluminium construction made it ideal for residential and security lighting.

Local GEC Z9580s (WRTL SRL 35s) The Z9580 (and later Siemens and WRTL SRL 35) was used in small numbers in the early-mid 1990s. Competition from Thorn Beta 5 s and Philips MI 26 s kept numbers of this 35 Watt SOX lantern down - nonetheless, examples are dotted about the county in side-entry and top-entry forms - both with and without integral gear.

Although this lantern is one of the SRL 35's ancestors (with that having begun life as the GEC Z9580), it bears little resemblance to the Siemens lantern. There are a few very small pieces of concrete around the top-entry thread on the canopy, but no rust patches from the bracket, so the lantern was probably easily removed.
