
4612 – Preserved British Steam Locomotives
4612 was built by the GWR at Swindon Works in 1942. BR motive power depot allocations since 1948. It ended its days working in South Wales, before withdrawal in 1965 and being sent to Barry scrapyard having completed 427,707 miles whilst in service. It was bought by the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway (KWVR) in 1981 for spares for 5775.

One of 863 pannier tanks built, the GWR’s most numerous class, 4612 did time in Bristol, Swindon and finally South Wales. Scrapped in 1965 it was saved from the scrapyard in 1981 as a spare for parts.

2020年8月14日 · Visiting the NVR on loan from Bodmin and Wenford Railway, steam locomotive 4612 will haul trains along the heritage railway alongside home fleet engines such as Southern Railway Battle of Britain Class No.34081 “92 Squadron”. The NVR has resumed running trains to Peterborough from Wansford Station, with tickets needing to be booked before travel.

2019年8月26日 · GREAT Western motive power returned to the Bodmin & Wenford Railway for the first time in 2019 when Collett ‘8750’ 0-6-0PT No. 4612 rejoined the working fleet in late-July after overhaul. The loco passed its steam test on July 18 and, following running-in turns, took its place on the passenger roster the next week.
