9681 was Swindon in May 1949. BR motive power depot allocations since 1948. 9681 was withdrawn in August 1965 and sent to Barry scrapyard. It was taken to the Dean Forest Railway in 1975 and returned to steam in 1984. It was taken out of service in 2013 was originally scheduled to return to service in 2016 after an overhaul.

2022年11月3日 · After 9 years of hard work and a pandemic, BR 57xx Pannier Tank No.9681 was rolled out of Norchard shed today (03/11/22). Testing will commence shortly. A huge thanks is owed to the small but dedicated team of volunteers; whom along with assistance from Western Steam Engineering, have worked tirelessly to overhaul the loco.

Pannier Tank 9681 has been undergoing an overhaul for the past 9 years and now looks immaculate in its BR Black livery. More updates during the locomotives testing are set to be published soon.

2022年6月22日 · Latest update on Pannier 9681. Thanks to the dedication of our engineering volunteers and Western Steam Engineering, 9681’s tanks were fitted back to the locomotive last weekend. The Pannier is now starting to resemble a finished locomotive again.

2024年10月31日 · Loco Profile – No. 9681 (Dean Forest Locomotive Group) No. 9681 is one of two humble Pannier tanks based at the railway owned by the DFLG. Designed by the GWR, the 8750 tank was a later version of the 5700 class Pannier Tank.

The newly overhauled ex GWR 5700 Class 0-6-0PT No. 9681 has began testing and running trials and is set to enter service at the Dean Forest Railway for the 2023 season from Easter.

2025年3月18日 · 9681 is part of the Great Western Railway’s largest single class of locomotive, the 57xx Pannier tank. More technically, 9681 is part of the 8750 subclass which is mainly identified by it’s more modern cab with large windows.
