The L9908 is ST’s first gate driver unit (GDU) for automotive to support 48 V batteries. The new device thus meets the latest power requirements that stem from the popularization of hybrid and energy-efficient vehicles.
L9908 is a gate driver unit (GDU) capable of controlling 6 N-channel FETs for 3-phase motors in automotive applications. Each one of the 3 half bridge drivers channels (HS/LS couples) can be independently configured allowing different load driving and is able to withstand -14 V to 95 V excursion on motor`s pins.

It includes high side and low side Field Effect Transistor (FET) pre-drivers, motor BEMF zero crossing detection circuit, two current sensing amplifiers with per-configured 20x gain and current/voltage limitation detection.
