Evolution Series locomotives are equipped with either AC or DC traction motors, depending on the customer's preference. All are powered by the GE GEVO engine. [4]

2022年11月1日 · Internally, the GEVO L6 engine has replaced the 16-645 prime mover and a new control system has been installed. The ET23DCM also retains an EMD alternator to provide electrical power. The 13 units will be numbered CSX Nos. 1715-1727 when complete.

2023年2月12日 · Many of the locomotive’s other electrical components have been replaced by a more modern Wabtec control system for best communication with the GEVO engine. The origin of a six-cylinder GEVO came from the late 2000’s when GE proposed a locomotive model called the ES23DC, but it was never off the drawing board.

The Gevo (V250) and FDL (V228) Marine engines also have the bolt on doors with 2 on each side being able to vent pressure in the event of an explosion. The picture in the link above is of the Marine version of the Inline hence the bolt on doors.

2023年8月11日 · PHL will destroy four triple-engine locomotives (locomotive chassis + engines) and six engines. The replacement locomotives will be the Wabtec ET23DCM and the repowered engines will be the General Electric GEVO L6.

GE has displayed a 6 cylinder GEVO diesel engine at a show in Chicago. Does anyone have more info? Well, how much horsepower would that have if 12 cyl is 4400 hp and 16 is 6000? My guess is that this new 6 cyl is in the 2000-2400 hp range? My guess is GE's answer to EMD's new 8-cyl 710 repowering program... There's also an inline 8 cyl.

The GE (General Electric) Evolution Series (or simply "GEVO") is a series or line of high-powered, energy-efficient, six-axle diesel locomotives which first debuted in 2005, and is still currently in production (with prototypes or testbeds built from late-2002 to mid-2003).

The Evolution Series loads much faster than the FDL driven previous lines. Also, the GEVO-12 uses one turbo, the GEVO-16 uses two. The GEVO prime mover is a combination of the best features of the FDL and the HDL and is SIMILAR to the HDL but is not derived from it.
