Most of the heavy equipment and weaponry of the Hellenic Army is either of foreign manufacture, or of foreign design, license built in Greece, in addition to few domestically developed equipment. Countries of origin include the United States, France, Germany, Russia and others.

Greece and Turkey have upgraded their fleets into M48A5. The Greek Army has added the EMES-18 FCS to their M48A5, denumerating them as “MOLF” for Modular Laser Fire Control System. The Jordanian M48 and M48A1 saw action against the IDF in the six-day war in 1967 where they were highly regarded by their opponents.

The M48 Patton is an aging Medium Tank design of American origin. The design dates back to the Korean War period and debuted in 1952. Though progressively modernized, its best fighting days are clearly behind it though some world military forces continue to operate the type in ever dwindling numbers.
