The Type-25 Grenade Launcher[1], more commonly known as the Brute Shot, the Kickass Broom by Donut or the Grif Shot as Grif refers to it as, is a two-handed weapon available in Halo 2 and Halo 3. It is the Meta 's signature weapon and is shown to be one of the most deadly personal weapons in the series.

Grif has been shown to grow attached to various alien-tech weapons, such as the Meta's Brute Shot (which he promptly names the "Grif Shot"), the Teleportation Grenades, and the Suppressor. Grif appears to take an interest in alien weaponry and technology. After taking the Meta's brute shot, he keeps it for himself and quickly becomes attached to it, nicknaming it the "Grif Shot"; when it is later confiscated by the UNSC, he is distressed to the point of tears.

Captain Dexter Grif is known the laziest member of the Red Team, and the butt of many jokes. Grif attended college for a year before he dropped out and joined the military. At some point, Grif was deployed in a simulation outpost called Danger Canyon .
