GUGO or Entada phaseoloides L. is a large woody vine(liana) that climbs high into the lowland coastal forests throughout the Philippines. It grows wild and is extensively used in the country especially by the older generation for washing hair. GUGO has been known to contain medicinal properties used for hair treatments.
Since ancient times, the plant has been utilized as an anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, antiarthritis, antidiabetic, antioxidant, cytotoxic, antibacterial, and molluscidal agent in ayurvedic medicine.
