The H23 was an increased-stroke, non-VTEC version of the H22, used in Japan, North America, and Europe. It shared the same Fiber Reinforced Metal (FRM) cylinder wall liners with the H22.

There are two main variants of the H-Series: H22 and H23. Both variants of sub-variants under them which feature slightly different specs and power ratings. H22 engines made earlier than 1996 feature a closed desk design, while engines made after that use an open deck design.

The 2.3-liter Honda H23A engine was assembled at the company’s Japanese plant from 1992 to 2002 and installed on some modifications of the fourth-generation Accord and Prelude models. There were two versions of the motor: with a black cover without VTEC and charged with a blue cover. The H-series also includes an internal combustion engine: H22A.
