Hogden HP-38 pistol powder. What has your experiences...
2017年4月20日 · I use HP-38 for many different loads in 32 long, 38 S&W and Special, 357 mag, 44 special and mild 44 mag, 45 ACP and 45 Colt. It's pretty versatile for just about anything. It is the same powder as Winchester 231, just different name. Meters well, burns clean and is about the same burn rate as Alliant's Unique.
Need to fine tune 38 load with HP-38 - Smith And Wesson Forums
2011年10月30日 · I'd like to get some advice on fine tuning a load for 38 special using HP-38 powder with Hornady dry lubricated 158gr LSWC. I recently finished a lot of 50 - in two batches. Everything came out very well, except that there was a LOT of smoke when either batch was fired. This was done at an inside range, with admittedly poor circulation.

2018年4月5日 · HP-38 aka Win 231 was getting really hard to find for awhile. My favorite powder for .38 special and .45 auto. But when I first started reloading .45 , Red Dot was THE powder for .45 match loads. Dirty , but very accurate. The other downside is big flake powder does not meter thru powder measures as smooth as small flake or ball powders.

I was just hoping that someone would post an approximate amount of grains to use with 147g coated round nose for Minor PF. I appreciate the information though !

2012年7月28日 · For 230 GR lead Hodgdon recommends for HP-38 a max load of 5.3 GR, this is a pressure of 17,000 CUP. For a 200 max is 5.6. You may not be getting all of the powder burnt. These are very old lead bullets, what’s the condition of the lube on the bullets? Since you don’t know the age or manufacture of the bullets this could be reason.

2019年8月16日 · With 20 oz combined weight, my PCCs will cycle even lighter target loads (115 gr RMR FMJ with 4.6 gr W231/HP-38 or 4.0-4.2 gr Red Dot/Promo). For reference: - H1 buffer weighs 3.8 oz - H2 buffer weighs 4.6 oz - H3 buffer weighs 5.4 oz BTW, W231/HP-38 is temperature sensitive and Promo is reverse temperature sensitive.

2010年1月25日 · According to Mike Daley at Hodgdon, W231 and HP-38 are indeed the same powder. Winchester and Hodgdon both get the powder from the exact same OEM manufacturer. The only difference is the label on the bottle. That being the case, I do find the loading manuals that list different load data for the two powders hideously amusing.
