High Speed 2 (HS2) is a high-speed railway which has been under construction in England since 2019. The line's planned route is between Handsacre, in southern Staffordshire, and London, with a branch to Birmingham. After High Speed 1, the London to Channel Tunnel link, HS2 is to be Britain's second purpose-built high-speed railway.

High Speed 2 is a new high-speed railway line in England. It was originally planned to connect London with the city centres of Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds directly on new high speed track. East Midlands Airport was also to have been served. Phase 2 was planned for completion in 2032–33, however it was finally cancelled on 4 October 2023. [2]

Phase 2 sub phases: Phase 2 was split into two sub phases, 2a and 2b. Phase 2a would have been from Handsacre to Crewe , with phase 2b being the remainder of phase 2. Services were to start on phase 2a on in 2027, and the remainder of phase 2b by 2033.
