As a branch of Sangh, each shakha seeks to promote the cause of Hindu Dharma (universal values), Sanskriti (culture) and Samaj (society) while accommodating the needs of the local community. Swayamsevaks (members) always interact in groups, promoting leadership, teamwork, and social skills.

Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (Hindi: हिन्दू स्वयंसेवक संघ, lit. ' Hindu Volunteer Organization'; abbr: HSS) is a non-profit, social, educational, and cultural organization of Hindus living outside India. It was founded in 1940s in Kenya, it is currently active in 156 countries and estimates 3289 branches. [1]

What is Shakha in HSS? Each chapter of HSS is known as Shakha – a monthly program for the entire family. While the kids enjoy learning via inspiring stories, youth and adults also participate in activities such as games, songs, discussions, and lectures on Hindu Vedic culture.

Shakha, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning “branch,” represents the local chapters of the Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh (HSS), where the organization’s core values—Samskaar, Sewa, and Sanghatan—are nurtured and practiced.

Each chapter of HSS is known as Shakha – a weekly program for the entire family. While the kids enjoy learning in the balagokulam, youth and adults participate in activities such as games, songs, discussions, and lectures on Hindu culture.

HSS-Shakha Achar Paddhati: Achar Paddhati is a formal procedure that is followed at the beginning and ending of a Sangh Shakha (branch). For any organization with a large number of branches, it is important to have standard procedures across some common programs.

The aim of HSSNZ is to provide a common platform for all Hindu's to practice and promote Hindu Dharma and culture. The Swayamsevaks (volunteers) come together in a weekly meeting (Shakha) and learn about two basic foundation values:
