Welcome to the British Columbia Herdshare Association, a legally-incorporated non-profit society serving the herdshare community of British Columbia through providing support, education, and advocacy. Forty-three American states have legalized raw milk via either sales or herdsharing.

A herdshare is a means by which consumers can obtain farm-fresh unprocessed milk without the farmer violating the Milk Industry Act ban on raw milk sales. In a herdshare, consumers purchase ownership shares in a herd of dairy livestock, and thus obtain milk from animals that they own.

Here are some of the differences, and why more and more people are joining herdshares to access farm-fresh local meat and dairy products. Small herd, privately owned and shared by many local families, not selling milk. Large herd, owned by one family or business, selling milk to processors which then sell it to the public.

This data contains the current caribou subpopulation (herd) boundaries. Herd boundaries are derived from the best available science and expert knowledge. A caribou subpopulation (herd) boundary is the area required to be managed to achieve a self-sustaining population.
