2020年10月16日 · When I'm using this antenna I'm too lazy for that. The antenna has a telescoping whip so it's really a built-in tuner itself. I start with setting up per the supplied chart then adjust the whip length for maximum signal and noise on receive. Then I transmit a low power carrier and fine tune my adjustment for minimum SWR.

2021年9月1日 · I get good results with a MFJ Big Stick with it's coil, or a Wolf Creek Coil with 17.5' Telescopic whip. Pretty much the same type of antenna with either one but the Wolf coil seems more heavy duty to me. I have not had to use any thing larger when 25' radials many times I just don't use radials an rely on my 3 foot long tripod legs acting as them.

2021年6月11日 · I've had both and prefer the HFJ-350M. The build quality on the Comet is better overall and it has a UHF connector on the bottom whereas the MFJ has a BNC which is wiggly.

I can't seem to set up the HFJ-350M (almost identical with the more popular MFJ-1899T) with my portable radio in any way that will give me an SWR of less than 10+:1. Everything I've read online says to make sure I use a counterpoise, but information is very conflicting on how to do this properly, and I remember very little about antenna design.
