Jan 15, 2024 · HFNC provides peep, Venturi is good for those that are on the inbetween flows like 9L-12l, after the oxymask came out we almost never use the Venturi anymore. You’ll also find your super claustrophobic patients will tolerate the HFNC better than the mask.
HFNC in adults. Looking for help with protocol assignment.
Apr 8, 2018 · Hello respiratory folks, Student about to graduate here. I'm doing a protocol for HFNC (optiflow, etc.) in adults for a project. There are plenty articles and research in the neonatal and pediatric populations, but there's nothing definitive for quite a few elements of HFNC use in adults (most literature on adult HFNC use mentions this ...
HFNC and flow : r/respiratorytherapy - Reddit
Aug 1, 2023 · The ability of HFNC to generate positive pressure (CPaP) is misrepresented. All the patient has to do is open their mouth and the pressure is gone. There has also been too much variability in pressure generated and flow, though there is correlation.
HFNC in a transport setting : r/ems - Reddit
Jun 16, 2021 · HFNC is really only pratical with a LOX system. In my area thats a heli only option for the time being. Its that or bringing multiple back up mains for not overly long transports which doesnt seem like a good approach. Reply reply More replies the-biggiecheese •

Sats improve when going from high flow to low flow oxygen? : r
May 3, 2024 · Flow and FiO2 are controlled independently on HFNC setups. You can control the FiO2 coming out of the cannula but the amount of oxygen concentration the patient actually receives depends upon factors like inspiratory demand, flow, FiO2 setting. As you switch from HFNC, 20L/45% to a 4L NC, you reduced the flow but inadvertently raised the FiO2 ...
ELI5: high flow NCs : r/respiratorytherapy - Reddit

Help with ABG Interpretation and Treatment - Reddit
Jun 26, 2024 · From a respiratory standpoint I agree with your order of operations. You always want to give people a chance off the vent first, though seeing that PaO2 on a NRB for several hours would have me assuming we're heading that direction. I would have started with a HFNC on the highest flow and FiO2 that your equipment allows for, followed by aggressive BiPAP, …
aggressive high flow use : r/respiratorytherapy - Reddit
Apr 30, 2023 · We aren't aggressive but we use HFNC a lot. Primarily for WOB and FiO2 needs greater than 6L on nasal cannula. I would rather have an unnecessary high flow than an unnecessary bipap, personally. My ER is the other way around and they want everyone on bipap, but it's usually RT pushing for high flow in the ER and other areas of the hospital.
