To my best understanding it's solely the US import laws, as long as guns don't fall under the category weapons of war (which is only full auto on small arms) hk can import them to wherever they want because they then are handled as sporting goods aslong as the country it goes to is inside the EU, nato or an otherwise allied country.

2014年1月4日 · HK is trying to get permission from the German government sell a new rifle in Germany and here in the states, It will be a civilian version G36 under the name of HK293 here in the states and HK243 in Germany. A conversion or rebuild of the example rifle using standard/normal tools into a fully automatic firearm seems impossible.

2014年1月17日 · As usual, the new assault weapon ban can be pretty vague. However, the G36 or HK293 isn't listed as a "copycat" rifle that would be banned. Therefore, if it doesn't have 2 or more of the "assault weapon" features, it might actually be legal.
