The HKIE is a qualifying body for a wide range of Disciplines and consists of the following classes of membership. There are Corporate Members and other membership classes in the HKIE. Corporate Members have the right to vote on matters relating to the governance of the Institution.

The HKIE CPD Definition Continuing Professional Development (CPD) is a systematic maintenance, improvement and broadening of relevant knowledge and skills, and the development of these qualities necessary for successfully carrying out professional duties throughout an engineer's career.

All business transactions made under the Membership Benefits of the HKIE should be solely between the HKIE members and the respective merchant. The HKIE will not get involved in complaints made by both parties of any business transaction.

The Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE) was set up in 1947 as Engineering Society of Hong Kong with the aim of bringing together engineers of different disciplines for their common good. In 1975, the HKIE was incorporated by the Government under Ordinance, and continues to develop and expand.
