2021年1月12日 · This guide highlights key elements of high-leverage practice (HLP) 8; provides tips for mentors, supervisors, and other school leaders who are supporting the implementation of this HLP; and presents questions to consider when observing and evaluating this HLP in practice.

This video introduces and defines high-leverage practices (HLPs) 8 and 22 and provides the rationale for this practice appearing twice on the list of HLPs. The video also features four teachers demonstrating examples of the four key components of this HLP.

How does this HLP connect to the collaboration and/or assessment HLPs? How can feedback support the development and maintenance of positive teacher-student relationships? Why is specific feedback preferred over generic feedback? What are some benefits of process-oriented feedback vs. person-oriented feedback? Corrective feedback vs. reprimands?

High-leverage practices are evidence-based teaching practices that maximize outcomes for students with disabilities. The Council for Exceptional Children (CEC) states that high-leverage practices (HLPs) are “frequently occurring, essential educational practices that all K-12 special educators should know how to do” (CEC, n.d.).

Effective feedback must be strategically delivered and goal directed; feedback is most effective when the learner has a goal and the feedback informs the learner regarding areas needing improvement and ways to improve performance.
