On 15 January 1946, the RN Base at Marve and the craft stationed there were taken over by the Royal Indian Navy, with Hamla-I and Hamla-II being amalgamated with it and the entire establishment was renamed as HMIS Hamla. After independence, the unit was re-commissioned as INS Hamla on 06 January 1954.

2016年9月12日 · In June 1944, Muslim sailors of the HMIS Akbar in Bombay revolted, demanding a mosque, resulting in the discharge of 100 Pathans. A month later, Muslim sailors on board the HMIS Hamlawar at Bombay assaulted a sub-lieutenant, alleging that he had insulted the Koran. The officer was found guilty and lost three months seniority.
