2008年1月29日 · Hop plugs are whole hops that have been pressed (no grinding) into discs that are about a 1/2-3/4 inch thick and have a diameter slightly larger than a quarter. When they are plopped into the wort they slowly expand and will look like whole leaf hops in the kettle.

Also, Is there a test to discover the the Alpha Acid content of the hops that I grow? Thanks! The main benefit of pellets is that they are shredded, allowing greater utilization. I would just shred them.

The vast majority of hops sold today are in pellet form. Whole hops are fairly rare, and plug hops even rarer these days.

With this process you get leaf hops (not pulverized), but in a more compact state than if you simply buy loose leaf hops.
