I was surprisingly thrilled when Hot 106 became The Wolf via format change. When I broke into the radio broadcasting industry in April 1988, I'd been delivering pizza from Domino's in Woonsocket, RI when 106.3fm was across the hall from WWON on Getchel Avenue.

At midnight on October 31, WWKX dropped its longtime rhythmic contemporary format and began stunting with Halloween-themed music; with the move, the rest of the "Hot 106" airstaff would also depart the station. [6] On November 1, the station shifted its stunting to songs by Grateful Dead, in recognition of the Day of the Dead. [7]

2024年11月4日 · Cumulus Media has officially transitioned its former Hip Hop station, Hot 106 WWKX in Providence, RI, to a Classic Rock format under the new branding of “106.3 The Wolf.” The change took effect at midnight following two days of stunting.
