2011年9月27日 · Some folks swear by duck wax for the downy business. I haven't tried it but plan to for the next harvest. You're supposed to melt the wax, dip the mostly defeathered duck, then immediately dunk in cold water to crisp up the wax. When you pull off the hard wax the down should come off with it. Then you put the used wax back in to melt again ...

I used to spend at least an hour on a large duck until I discovered by accident that if you hang the carcass for about 2hrs, it makes the job a lot easier. The feathers still don't exactly fall out, but they let go much more easily.

Any plucker you make on your own in your back yard cheaply will not work like what you buy of the shelf. But if it will take of 90 percent of the feathers on a duck i call it a winner .

2009年4月18日 · The reason why most people do it around 8-9 weeks of age is becouse in a few weeks they will develope little things called pinfeathers they are very hard to take out and once the birds has them your better of skinning it.Its basically the same as a chicken but you can look on google if your not so sure.

I dont know about ducks but ive heard that when possums are culled you pluck the fur straight away when body still warm or else its hard to do.(in NZ possum fur is great mixed with wool for knitting) might be the same for ducks.
