2018年7月31日 · Entering service late in the Second World War, this model featured an improved Horizontal Volute Spring Suspension (HVSS) that replaced the iconic Vertical Volute Spring Suspension (VVSS) of earlier models. This suspension allowed for a wider track, improving grip and lowered the tanks ground pressure.

Chrysler completed the transition to HVSS suspension by the end of September, and we would surmise that the 100 M4(105)s assigned to the Commonwealth in October 1944 would have had HVSS. Some may have been shipped to Europe in time to be distributed before VE Day, but we don't know of any combat "shots" of them at present.
