The locomotiIe was built in June 1951 as IC 9446, was renumbered 446 so that the 9400-series could be used for GP18's, and then renumbered 1244 when it was equipped for multiple-unit operation. It was rebuilt as ICG SW14 1449 the year after this photo was taken.
