The IC + GM&O merger saw several F3A / F7A locos conveyed to the new ICG and assigned a 1600 series number, but only 1610, 1615 and 1620 had them applied. They were also the only F-units to receive the full orange & white treatment.

ICG GP40 3022 : Description: Illinois Central Gulf GP40 3022 was on a set of power at the railroad's MAYS YARD, just west of New Orleans. This unit was from the Illinois Central’s first order of GP40’s (3000-3039) which were built in January and February 1966 and delivered in the black paint scheme.

This GP40 is the trailing unit in a consist at Paducah, KY in Dec. 1979. This northbound freight is seen on the Beltway in Memphis in April 1987. These GP40s are seen in Memphis on March 19, 1983.

2025年3月2日 · Illinois Central Gulf GP40's 3000 and 3039 -- the first and last units of the IC's first GP40 order in 1966 -- head north through Independence, Louisiana with an empty grain train. The caboose was 199303.
