The rear truck of Illinois Central Gulf SD20 2020 was receiving some attention on the west side of the railroad's McComb Locomotive Shop, built in 1888. On the other side of the rear of the unit is one of the rails for the travelling gantry crane, which was used for most locomotive lifting work.

The SD20 locomotive is the purpose of this group. ICG's Paducah Shops began a rebuild program in 1979 for the 2000HP, six axle units. As a part of the rebuild program, they were completely rebuilt, installed a centralized air filtration system, and the electrical systems upgraded to "-2" standards along with a new cab.
